GUINDARUHAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
It is one of the Public Learning Institutions in the Municipality of Minglanilla, Cebu Province Division. The school is situated in Proper Guindaruhan, Minglanilla, Cebu with a total land area of 20,001 square meters or 2 hectares. The school site was acquired through Proclamation No. 529 by the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Malacañan Palace, Manila, last February 21, 1990 (occupying a lot no. 7409). The school is found 10 kilometers away from the National Road and 50 meters away from the Barangay Road. Cebuano is the principal dialect in the locality.

English Festival 2013: READING CONCERT
Guindaruhan National High School celebrates school-based English Festival 2013 with its Reading Concert category. The qualifying group (4th year level) represents Municipal English Festival on December 17, 2013.

To the secondary school administrators whose support manifests unity in purpose of inculcating English language among the students both in writing and speaking towards a more comprehensible communication.
To all students and teachers of different secondary schools in the Municipality of Minglanilla who take part of this event.
And most of all to our Almighty Father whose language of love, Jesus Christ, allows us to communicate and to live in peace and in harmony with one another.

Guindaruhan National High School: READING CONCERT
Reading Concert (RC) Contest Guidelines
Mechanics:
• 20-25 bona fide students per year level or mixed students in any year level;
• Participants shall wear complete uniforms with IDs;
• Participants have a "unified piece" to be followed/used during RC contest;
• Only head movements are allowed to be done while performing. Dramatic presentation is not allowed;
• Developed around the theme...the contestants must enunciate clearly using the 2-3-1 intonation patterns. Words should be uttered/pronounced clearly with pause, stress and juncture;
• Delivered in ten (10) to twenty (20) minutes, no limit on number of words;
• Speech delivery is based on a narrative form as if the group presenters are narrating a story. Prejudging of the content of the official reading concert with pause, stress or juncture shall be evaluated and submitted to the Board of Judges;
• The speech should be clearly read aloud. The text or prepared speech should be placed in a folder where the color of your school represents. The group presenters are not allowed to add text or make ad libs upon delivering their speech;
• The style of the delivery shall be conversational, oratorical or a combination of both;
• Use of microphone is allowed, but props or visual aids are prohibited. Singing, dancing and acting are also prohibited. The penalty will be disqualification;
• Group presenters should be at the contest venue at least 30 minutes before the start of the competition. Late contestants will not be allowed to compete;
• Lots will be drawn to determine the sequence of presentation 20 minutes before the contest proper. NO exchanging of sequence shall be made;
• Group presenters shall be introduced only according to the number in the lot drawn. No mention of the school until after the last group contestants have presented and judging has been finalized;
• To magnify the sound, microphone shall be provided. Group presenters should deliver their speech right away without citing the title;
• In cases where technical difficulties arise, such as but not limited to the malfunction of the microphone, sound system or power outage, the group presenters should continue to deliver their RC piece unless otherwise instructed by the Chairman of the BOJ. In these events, the Chairman of the BOJ may require the group to either start over or continue from where the contestants were cut off;
• Only the coaches have the authority to protest on behalf of the contestants and should be raised with the contest organizers. Protests received after the tabulators have collected the score sheets from the judges, will not be accepted under any circumstances;
• The Board of Judges (BOJ) will decide all protests in accordance with the official rules. The decision of the BOJ is final and no further appeals will be recognized in the Final level. Only appeals on plagiarism will be acknowledged and accepted; and
• Strictly no use of riser/stairs during performance.
